character info/backstory  :

Kai Lee is a 19 yr old, 5,4 Asian male. Kai is a aggressive and violent person but calm and collected with him being able to control his anger most of the time. Kai, choosing to isolate himself from society, traveling across the country after his military service

Experimental film

 ideas
  • still shots using a tripod ( all shots using this method
  • dark ominous music (non-diegetic)
  •  after a while soldiers radio talk joins the music 
  • every shot has kai in it and only him
  •  showing the everyday life he goes through on the streets across the whole country
  •  the war radio is used as a reference to kai's former military service showing his ptsd from his service      and how no matter whee he goes he cant escape it (main focus/theme)
  • open film with a old black and white tv interview r something then go to tv static, then go to old fashioned countdown from ten clip, then fade to black and play the title, then tv static again, then film starts.
  • music to use - either - brick or bat by ocean wisdom (either just the beat or fullsong) or a dark song probably a horror theme or a classical tune or a song from the band 'daughters' either youth or medicine.
  • the drink Jack Daniels is repeatedly in shots meant as a representation of 'kai's' outlet for his 'fatigue' and pain.

shot ideas 
  • the drink Jack Daniels is repeatedly in shots meant as a representation of 'kai's' outlet for his 'fatigue' and pain
  • all shot at night in a dark lighting only lit by laptop lights, with kai underneath the light (maybe)
  • dark narrow road only lit by laptops light (hartshill hayes road), midshot from behind sees kai walk down the road with jack Daniels bottle in hand and fag in other - then shot changes to show him walking from in front of him
  •  a large green with a tree in the middle of a housing estate, long shot of kai leaning against the tree almost falling to the floor sitting against it (same shot from multiple angles
  • portrait shot will be the shadow of a fag being lit and smoked
  • one shot will see 'kai' slapping his head and acting in a scared and irratic way, then flling to the floor laughing, almost appearing as crying, during this the music will quieten (not the war radio) with the laughing becoming more loud and prominent

At the start of the scene diegetic sound is used to emphasis the realism of the movie and the 'haunting' presence of The Joker and showing that even though he is the prisoner, he is in charge as he controls the scene as he vocally over powers Commissioner James Gordon even though Gordon is in the position of power and should be in charge. As the scene continues the diegetic sound is still being used to show the realism of the film as intended by the director, not only just by voice but also when Gordon removes the cuffs of The Joker the diegetic sound is used to play with the audiences emotion as they now know this monster is free creating fear and tension for the viewer. Pan's Labyrinth (Pale Man Scene)-cinematography and mise-en-scene analysis

Pale Man Scene Begins-53:50 Ends-59:54 There are many ways the cinematography and mise-en-scene creates meaning throughout all of Pan’s Labyrinth however it is most noticeable in specific scenes of the film one of which is the ‘pale man’ scene. The scene begins with a dolly shot  as the camera reverses backwards creating a false sense of security as we see the whole room showing no danger which is later not the case, the dolly shot shows the audience a long old hallway with stone pillars creating a sense of mystery through the use of location,  also in this hallway the walls are lit with a 'bloody red' colour illuminating of the wall which links with danger creating a sense and meaning of anxiety and fear for the audience. Next we follow Ofelia as she enter a huge room lit red with rotting stone pillars and a table full of delicious foods which mirrors the earlier dinner seen but putting it in the realm of fantasy rather than reality as well as plac...
